FAQs

What is the difference between a Nurse Practitioner and a Pyschiatrist?

How much will my copayment be?

Psychiatrists are medical doctors, having earned an MD or a DO and completed a psychiatric residency. Psychiatric nurse practitioners are advanced practice RNs who have completed a graduate program such as a master's or doctorate and worked as licensed nurses. Both diagnose and treat mental disorders. (nursejournal.org)

What is your new patient procedure?

Co-payments will be based on your insurance plans. Once you've created your profile on Headway,  your insurance will be verified and you'll have instant access to what your co-pay will be prior to your initial visit.

Do you have payment plans?

Yes, partial payment can be made when booking your appointment. But the remaining balance is required at the time of the initial visit. Appointments can be rescheduled to accommodate.

You can schedule an appointment by calling the number listed on this website or clicking the online booking link at the top right of each page, to create your profile. A new patient intake packet will be emailed to you, to be completed prior to your initial psychiatric evaluation.

What is your COVID policy?

COVID is real and the comorbidities associated with it are also real.  Due to Mental Aspects visits are 100% virtual, COVID restrictions do not apply at this time.

What type of patients do you treat?

At  Mental Aspects our providers provide care to patients with ADHD, Anxiety, Depression, Bipolar/Mood disorders, and Schizoaffective/Schizophrenia. Each patient's treatment is centered around their care. Give us a call today and schedule your first appointment.

What is your policy regarding benzodiazepines?

What is your ADHD policy?

Per FDA and DEA policy ADHD meds should not be prescribed along with other controlled meds (i.e. benzos/opioids).  Therefore, dual controlled substances are not prescribed at this office.  A self-reporting ADHD questionnaire will be sent via email/text to be completed prior to your initial psychiatric evaluation.  (It is recommended, not required, to have ADHD testing done at a local testing center).

Due to the Opioid crisis, which has stemmed from the rapid increase in the overuse of both prescription and illicit controlled substances.  FDA enforced prescriptive restrictions, due to ~100,000 opioid-related deaths over the past 10 years (CDC.gov), and the risk increases with the combined use of controlled substances.  Therefore, benzodiazepines are prescribed at Mental Aspects (except Xanax) according to FDA-approved guidelines.

Do you do virtual or telehealth visits?

Yes, we do offer telehealth visits, all co-pays will be collected prior to your visit.  We asks that you set aside enough time for your appointment, and that you have privacy without any distractions.  We asks that you treat your virtual appointment as you would an in-person visit.
